The Three Languages You Should Learn
By Thomas Smitherman
Since this week is Language Week at Qassia, I just thought I would throw in my two cent's worth. Many years ago, I heard or read someone say that to be successful in the twentyfirst century, a person should try to be proficient in these three languages. 1. English - the language commonly spoken in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa, and many other countries. 2. Spanish - the language commonly spoken in Spain, Mexico, most of Latin America, and several other countries. 3. Mandarin Chinese - the language most commonly spoken in the largest and most populous developing country in Asia, China. I know English very well having spoken it all my life. I regret that I didn't work harder on my High School Spanish since it would be so useful today! But when I watch the Financial Networks on television, I think I would like to learn Mandarin Chinese because that truly looks like a part of the world with a lot of potential in the years to come!
